i forgot to say happy july yesterday. can you believe that half the year is over. we are quickly approaching our target leave date, our one year anniversary, and 2009. it is just so hard for me to wrap my head around it all.
first things first. 4th of july we are having a little bbq with some of our friends. lily and john are going to be in so cal, so we thought we would take advantage of their backyard, deck and bbq. don't worry, they know all about it. we aren't some teenagers throwing a house party! :) i am looking forward to a nice, relaxing time with some good food and good friends. mike had a gift certificate for lobsters, so we ordered some lobster tails for our guests, and they should arrive sometime tomorrow. we wanted to get live ones, but then we wouldn't have enough to go around. so, we got the most bang for our buck.
so the cat is totally out of the bag! everyone knows about our impending adventure the the underbelly of the world! i am so relieved that we can talk openly about it, b/c the more i talk about it, the more excited i get. i think, for the most part, everyone is excited for us. they are happy b/c we are happy. of course for my bosses, from their perspective, they are sad to see me go and not excited about the hiring and training process in their near future. i am happy! i never thought i would be sad to stop working, but i am. i have grown to value my relationships with my coworkers, and bond with them. i do really enjoy working at all my places of employment.
we are off to germany next tuesday for about 8 days. i can't wait to see all our german friends. i am just so in love with all of them. i am excited to start off the summer with a big trip to europe. i got a little german dictionary for christmas from my mom last christmas, maybe i will dig it up and put it to good use. and my german teacher would be so proud if i actually could speak a sentence or two in german without sounding like a stupid californian.
finally made it to the gym today. it was rough. it has been a while since i have made my heart and other muscles work so hard. i tried to push through the side stitches on both sides. i did end up having to walk a good 3-4 minutes in between the 20 and 30 minute mark, but i did feel good afterwards. i am sure i will pay the price tomorrow. i am thinking of going back for another round tomorrow morning after i drop mike off at work. i am always a better workout bunny in the morning. and that sets my pace for the rest of the day.
i am so behind on my bills and banking. definitely have to do that tomorrow too. i need to get ready for our trip, and make sure we are all in good shape for the upcoming couple of weeks. good thing we don't have to pay any rent here...which is so super generous of my aunt and uncle. they are so wonderful to us.
i tried calling the california board of pharmacy to follow up on a letter of good standing that i had sent from here to the nz pharmacy council. nz hasn't received anything yet, so i wanted to make sure it was actually sent since the check for the request already cleared at the bank. of course, i finally get to a live person, and she transfers me to jennifer, and turns out jennifer is on vacation till july 6th. damn, hopefully i get some resolution sooner rather than later.
stella and leo left town this morning. i think they were anxious to get home. i don't blame them. it's a long drive and a lot of work for them to be here. mike was able to have breakfast with them before they left. i am glad that they got some one on one time with their kid and vice versa. apparently stella is glad that one of her kids listened to all her advice about saving and finances when they were young. and i will let you guess who the golden child is here! :)
anyhoo, i am so tired already. time check: 9:26pm. time to get ready for bed!
