we're baaaaaccccckkkk!

even if it is just for a split second! got home last night at about 7:30pm. went to dinner with aunt lily and uncle john, at vito's of course, where i proceeded to eat way too much and then be lazy all night. it is much hotter here than on whidbey, so i was sweating in my sleep last night...and having more anxiety about my cell phone, or lack thereof in the next week.

vegas was great. we ate great food. we had a great time visiting with stella and leo. we saw a great show. we discovered the old town on fremont street. not so great? the fact that they took out a lot of the video poker at new york-new york. the screaming housekeeping crew on our floor of our hotel. the incredibly long distances of walking to find anything. the crowded duece buses. sounds like i am complaining, but actually, it was a lovely trip down to vegas. however, i am not sure i need to go back for a while.

we went directly from vegas to whidbey island. it was cold and rainy the first day there. and we were ill-prepared for the inclement weather coming from the almost 100 degree heat in vegas. saturday was spent going to the local farmer's market, library, dvd rental shop, and deli. at home we ate home cooked goodness, played scrabble and hand and foot. very relaxing.

sunday, i hopped on the ferry and went to seattle to visit with my best friend, sunshine. seattle was gorgeous and sunny, so we went to fremont's oktoberfest. we sampled beer out of the littlest mugs and had veggie burgers and fries. i was disappointed that there weren't any pretzels at oktoberfest! after a quick stop at sunny's apartment, we went to the olympic sculture park and walked around, sat for a bit, and then grabbed coffee before heading down to auburn for the concert.

the counting crows were awesome, as expected. they started off with a long december, and finished with their "lullaby"...holiday in spain. what a perfect way to end their set, with our favorite song. and yes, there were tears at the beginning and the end. i wished i wasn't a blubbering idiot, but what can i do? counting crows are just always there for the farewell tours between us friends. and for some reason, she is either going to seattle or i am leaving it. goodbyes are always really hard for me...and this was no exception. i was overwhelmed by the fact that i won't be seeing sunny for a while, even though she assures me that it will be sooner rather than later. and with pam on my side, i know this much is true!

monday, sunny and i went to breakfast at crave in capitol hill. it was great to have a little extra qt with her. i knew the ride back to the ferry would feel like an ominous cloud. and as we sat on the little wooden bench saying our "see you laters", i was like a sad little camper. and i decided to cry all the way back to whidbey listening to holiday in spain on repeat, for so much more.

mike and his mom spent the day making meatballs, so after a short nap and some mah jong lessons, we ate like kings again! after dinner it was time for a hand and foot rematch, a weird cartoon and packing up for our travels back to the bay.
