breathe

a day to just breathe, and remember where i am and where i am going. totally opposite of how the last couple days have been.

yesterday was our niece, cara's, baptism. it was nice. the ceremony was personal, since it was not part of a sunday service; it was just the family and friends gathered for the baptism. after there was a reception at the house, complete with a bounce house, bbq, and cake. it was a beautiful day outside, so we were able to sit in the shade and catch up with everyone. in the afternoon, there were horses at the block party down the street and the kids at our party were allowed to ride them up and down the cul-de-sac. it was pretty weird to see horses walking next to parked suv's and mini vans!




on friday, my sister in law was taken to the hospital via ambulance due to a painful kidney stone. so, i went over to the house to provide some stress relief and help to stella, who was home watching annie and cara. she is doing fine post-passing of the stone.

friday late afternoon, i took mike to dr. mike to get his temporary crown. it was pretty crazy to see his monster tooth all shaved down before they put the temp crown in place. he was supposed to get some filling replaced, but there was some miscommunication with the rest of the family about who was supposed to pick leo up from the airport, so dr. mike decided to wait to do the fillings next time. yes, we are milking the insurance for every penny!

i have been trying to shop for days now. i have not found any pants or jeans yet. i am working on it. i did manage to get something for my friend carolin, that i promised to get her since i left germany in july. yay!

i was determined to not have to do thank you cards for my birthday gift...but, i got so many nice things that i feel like i have to send them now. i found some really cute cards at papyrus the other day. however, i have not found the motivation to actually write them yet. i am having flashbacks of writing all the thank yous for the wedding! yikes! but, i will be a good camper and do them b/c my awesome friends deserve it!

i have to mention that mike's brother and his wife evacuated yesterday from new orleans in anticipation of hurricane gustav's arrival. i am hoping that they will stay safe and that they do not have to come home to devastation similar to what katrina brought 3 years ago. i am glad that they left before things got worse, and i wish them all the best at this time.

31 days to go! yes, i have a reminder everyday. a month! can you believe it?!? we are down to the wire. we need to finish our packing tomorrow. mike is done with work on friday. i am done the friday after. pretty soon we will fly far, far away from here.
