reno recap & other bs

got back from reno last night around 10pm. shortest flight i have ever been on. less than an hour to pop up over the mountains and land again. very nice compared to the lengthier flights i have coming my way.

arrived in reno on friday morning. immediately started playing video poker. mike had his last awful awful for a while. had a nap, played more video poker, had a lovely dinner at la strada. went to see the chris isaak show. very funny entertainer, and of course he sang wicked games. glad we got to see him. i should get some of his music off itunes. my ipod is in desperate need of some new tunes. any suggestions are welcomed and appreciated. not much in the way of winning the big bucks, but i was even by the time we said goodnight.

saturday i felt like crap. i had been feeling under the weather since tuesday night. got up, ate, played video poker, had a nap, got up, had chicken noodle soup and half a grilled cheese, back to video poker. moved onto slots, played pennies on gold fish. won money! got one spin that paid 5225 pennies! got a couple bonus games and took away more than i fed the silly machine. i was happy. celebrated with a malibu and coke.

sunday, checked out of the fitz and went over to atlantis. got a quick peek at the classic cars that were starting the roll in for hot august nights from the cab window. had a greasy breakfast at the purple parrot and the video poker playing commenced. the winning streak started...got 4 or 5 five of a kinds (500 nickels), and mike got a royal flush! ate a delish early dinner at the new manhattan deli before a hideous stomach ache hit. spent the rest of our time in reno playing da vinci diamonds, keno, and more poker. went the airport with almost all my money back. and just a nice final farewell, mike got another royal at the shitty video pokie machine at the airport. only 1500 nickels!

overall, it was a nice weekend. well worth the tiredness i have today. starting my 12 day work stretch today. this only serves to make me feel even more exhausted.

i didn't start my 365 day project yet. although, i did take some nice photos of the reno sign all lit up. will post them soon.

still working on my CE units. cranking out all types of tests about interesting things like dopamine agonists used in parkinson's disease, probiotic use in the treatment of antibiotic-associated diarrhea, and treatment options for hyperhidrosis. although it does feel like a "have to" thing, i secretly like doing these things. makes me feel smarter about my profession. weird, i know. i must really like being a pharmacist. interesting, and i get paid for it. who knew?

still not studying for my boards in december. still trying to get those effin' passport photos certified. got denied 3 times in a row. those notary peeps are on a very short schedule. making it very hard for me to get things done. good thing the application is short. basically, i just have to give them my money. of course. it always comes down to that, doesn't it???

over the recent few years, i have become like many other women, frightfully obsessed with my body image. i try to go to the gym as often as possible. for a while there, it was almost daily, although now it is twice a week at best. i will spare you for all my lame excuses. i was all into my running. i did hit my 100 mile mark, and then went to germany and practically stopped that. again, lame excuses, none of which are justified. anyhoo, while in reno, i noticed a huge reason why i need to throw all those lame excuses out the window and really get back into my gym rat routine. and here it is: CELLULITE! it is ugly and it is on my thighs. it is gross, and i was horrified when i saw it in the full length mirrow in our hotel room.

son of a b!tch!!!! i wanted to go for a run immediately....it was about 90 degrees out. i wanted to go the gym right then and there...the fitz is really lacking in those amenities. i wanted to cry...i didn't, don't worry. so, first thing i did when i got home last night? packed my gym bag for today after work. really, i will try to be better about my health and body from now on. vacation is over!!! and has been for weeks. we got home from germany almost a month ago.

oh, p.s. can you believe that it is august already! we are already 4 days in, and there isn't any turning back. it's my birthday month! and i am going to be an old lady this year, not that i am not already.

okay, better get back to work. enough wasting time...for me, and for phil. the only one who reads this blog. and he is on vacation, hard core hiking in the hills of germany. oh my!
