life has taken hold, and i am slow on the update for this blog. but, no worries, i haven't given out the address yet! only to phil in germany.
so here are some snippets of the past week.
first and foremost, the best news is the arrival of our new niece. my best friend's sister had baby girl gwenyth trinity on tuesday, may 13, 2008 at 3:45am via c-section. she was a little early; actually her due date was june 9th, but she was supposed to be a scheduled c-section on june 2nd. i guess baby gwen couldn't wait to get out into the world. she was 6 lbs, 8 oz and 18.5 inches on her birthday. she joins big sister, lauren isabella. i can't wait to meet baby gwen and visit their entire family!
second, i achieved a milestone yesterday. after only a month of running, i have ran a total of 50.99 miles! i am proud of this accomplishment, especially since i am still not in love with running. however, i have managed to stay focused and committed, improving with almost every run so far. so, today, i will rest since it is going to be a scorcher of a day here in the bay area. and i will go for a morning trail run tomorrow.
third, i am getting restless and anxious and nervous with all this waiting for new zealand news. we haven't heard anything yet. it has been 3 weeks since the phone interview, so we are expecting news anytime soon. i am getting antsy about it. truth be told, i check the mail everyday and i get pangs of disappointment each time the box is empty. i know we are going to be accepted, but i can't be 100% excited when i don't have the official confirmation in my hand and my passport back with my blue stickers.
i have decided that i shouldn't be allowed to lurk on the nz emigrate web boards anymore. i get so upset when i read about others' getting their answers and we are still waiting. i know, that green monster hides right below my surface. but what i love about those boards is the genuine enthusiasm that people have to be moving forward toward a common goal. it's nice to see we aren't the only ones trying to hold onto and achieve a dream.
there is a heat wave in the bay area this week. it was almost 100 degrees yesterday and today it is supposed to be 93. it was pretty bad yesterday...so uncomfortable.
this weekend i have 3 days off. and next weekend i have 4. my parents and grandma will be in town for my sister's graduation. i am glad that i got the time off.
i need a vacation. i am restless with all this waiting. i wish i could go to a tropical place and take my mind off of nz for a while.
