where is mr. clean?

i want him to come over and magically clean my office and desk. i have been working on this mess all afternoon, and it looks as if i haven't lifted a finger. there is just such a huge amount of papers everywhere. i am trying to organize things, and decide what needs to be shredded or filed away. also, i am trying to think of what i readily need accessible while we are over in new zealand. i have 2 big file boxes, and if at all possible, i want to leave the bulk of that at my parents' house for safe keeping.

tonight mike is taking pictures of most of our furniture to put up online to be sold off in anticipation of our move(s). we are trying to be a little more serious and proactive about getting our stuff cleaned up and packed away. mike is spending this weekend trying to get rid of a bunch of our stuff. time is just going by so quickly. sometimes i feel like we are running out of time to get everything done. note to self: use time more wisely.

i am desperately trying to think of all the things that i will take with me to nz. when i read stuff on the forums, people say to bring everything. however, mike and i have decided this is applicable to people who have kept house for a while, so they have collected nicer pieces of furniture and such. since we are newly married, and still have stuff hanging around from our college days, we aren't planning on taking that much with us. so, when we go, we will really be starting from scratch.

i will be taking my books. i have the entire harry potter series in hardback, minus the last book. i should pick that up, just so i have a complete set. i will also take my pharmacy books once i get them back from melinda. some of them i will take with me on the plane ride over, and some i will ship with the bulk of our other stuff. we are taking all of our wedding gifts, of course. our pots/pans, linens, bed sets, computers, dishes, and bikes will go. a good chunk of mike's dvd collection will get shipped, but sadly, our tv must be sold. we are sad about this, b/c it really is a nice tv. bringing your own fishing and gardening gear over is highly recommended, and we are even considering buying a tent b/c outdoor gear is pretty pricey over there.

well, i think i better get back to cleaning. and i really need to start a new goodwill bin.
