i tossed and turned all night. i woke up so many times. not very restful. it was probably b/c at dinner last night, we shared a slice of cheesecake and had coffees. maybe i should have gotten decaf.
yesterday, mike and i went to one of our favorite restaurants, original joe's in downtown san jose. we love this place, and it is special to us b/c it is where we went on our first date. we both just felt like going there and having giant plates of pasta. i had fettucine alfredo with ham and peas. mike had his classic, spaghetti napoletana with a huge meatball. then we topped it off with the previously mentioned famous cheesecake and coffee. it was so delicious!
just got back from lunch with mike and gp. had dosas at madras in sunnyvale. so good! yes, i eat a lot.
i went for a run this morning on the treadmill at our mini-gym. i didn't go out on the trail b/c it was already too warm for me, and b/c i am vain i didn't want to worsen my shorts/armband tan. today, i ran for my longest distance ever, 4.39 miles. i was literally dripping with sweat when i finished, but i felt so good afterwards. so, now my totals are: 23 runs (with my nike+ipod), 86.24 miles, with an average pace of 9'25" per mile. i told sunny i am going to celebrate when i reach 100 miles. i think it is incredible that my feet can have taken me that far.
lately, i have been treating my body better by running on alternate days, and doing a lighter cardio routine on the other days. wednesday i ran on the trail, and it was okay. i felt super slow b/c i hadn't done any exercise since the friday before. i was working so much, and decided sleeping was more important that running. yesterday, i went to the apple gym and did the elliptical for 4 or so miles. and then today, i had a great run on the treadmill. so, i may have found a better pattern for myself, rather than running everyday and pushing myself too hard. now, if i could only get my eating to balance out better.
on the pharmacy exam front, i spent the majority of my morning yesterday getting the ball rolling to register for the december exam. i contacted the california board of pharmacy to see what i had to do about getting a letter of good standing sent the the nz pharmacy council. basically i had to put my request in writing, send them a $20 processing fee, and a stamped, addressed envelope to nz. the lady i spoke with was very nice, and said that the turn around time was about 7-10 days. so, i scrambled to get everything ready and sent off yesterday. see, the registration deadline for the december exam is october 1st, but the nz board requires that the letters of good standing be sent at least 9 weeks prior to the next intended exam. i also have to send in the application itself, along with a certified passport photo and an english exemption fee. yup, i have to be exempt from the english language requirement b/c i was educated in the usa, and i graduated from an english speaking country. and that will cost me nz $111. again, this proves the point that nothing is free!
and today, i prepared a fax and order form to be sent off to australia to get a copy of the australian medicines handbook, which is like the koda-kimble book in australia. and since the CAOP exam is administered by the australian pharmacy board, this is where a lot of the information comes from. the nz pharmacy council even recommends that you get this book to study from. so, off my order form goes for a book that will cost me $145 australian dollars plus an additiona $37 for airmail shipment to california. so, i haven't been slacking on trying to move forward with taking this exam in december. too much paperwork!
besides all this business bullcrap, i have been thinking a lot about my friends, past and present. i am so sentimental, it is ridiculous. i think this may require another entire post unto itself...
